A creative visual storyteller designing user experiences and interfaces for web and interactive media with a background in developing graphic design and illustration solutions for news media, marketing, advertising and public relations. Driven to understand user motivations in order to create compelling designs and experiences that engender trust, engage emotional attachment and motivate users to specific interactions leading to measurable results. About Me

I’ve been a designer since I was old enough to hold a crayon and a pair of scissors.

I say this somewhat jokingly because as a kid, I wouldn’t simply draw a picture of a favorite superhero like Spider-Man or Superman. Instead, I would draw the figure on one piece of paper, the background on another and then use scissors and tape to combine the two. I was probably 6 years old at the time and already I was learning to work in layers.

Obviously much later, I earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Graphic Design from the Savannah College of Art and Design and went on to spend the following years learning design by way of journalism at The Augusta Chronicle — a mid-size newspaper located in Augusta, Georgia.

During my first years at The Augusta Chronicle, I designed and crafted informational graphics, layouts, art heads and illustrations to support both news and feature articles.

Later, I transitioned to the Web and designed and built websites for the Chronicle including The Augusta Chronicle’s first official website and high-profile websites devoted to the Chronicle’s coverage of the 1996 Olympics and The Masters Tournament, which was in coordination with CNNSi.com.

I joined CNN/SI’s Web team supporting the dual-branded CNN Sports Illustrated news channel and designed the 2001 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit website, graphics and illustrations for Olympics 2000 news features and developed web page designs and logo treatments for over a dozen fantasy sports games and features.

In 2001 I joined Georgia State University’s Public Relations Department as the University Web Designer. I led the visual design of the university’s online presence through multiple award-winning redesigns, maintained brand consistency, developed special Web projects and provided maintenance and support to the website and Web administrators.

My achievements at Georgia State most recently included the design and building of new WordPress showcase websites for Georgia State’s Research hub, The Rialto Center for the Arts and a website celebrating the university’s centennial celebration, all part of an integrated mission to migrate completely into WordPress.

In 2014 I joined the WebMD Consumer Revenue team as a UX/UI designer. I have been creating desktop and mobile design solutions in support of WebMD’s advertising and sponsored product sales for clients ranging from retailers such as Walmart, Target and Walgreens to consumer product manufacturers such as Philips, Procter & Gamble and Kimberly-Clark to pharmaceutical companies like Merck and AbbVie.
